The Weight, Hypnotherapy, and You (W.H.Y.)

The WHY program is an eight session program developed by Judith E. Pearson,PhD
that offers a comprehensive approach to weight reduction by using NLP and
Hypnotherapy to coach you to succeed in reducing to and maintaining your desired
weight. This results oriented program focuses on the mental and behavioral elements
of weight control that are most directly related to success in weight reduction. These
elements are stress management; food selection; adherence to a good nutrition
program; portion control; healthy eating patterns; and physical exercise. Additionally,
this program indirectly addresses secondary issues such as personal responsibility,
self-nurturance, positive thinking and self-talk, realizing and overcoming self imposed
    obstacles, and motivation.

This program is designed to give lasting results by putting the tools and methods of
weight reduction in your hands. By the time your have completed the WHY program,
you will know self-hypnosis, have a method for stress management, and have a set
of hypnotherapy audio CD's for additional reinforcement and support. The skills you
develop and the tools we provide give you the resources needed to sustain change
    over time.

The effectiveness of the WHY program is based on commitment and accountability.
To be eligible to participate, you must:

  • Be enrolled and actively participating in a medically approved nutrition/diet
program or plan that meets individual nutritional and dietary needs based on your
    current health and medical history.
  • Have undergone a recent physical examination during which a physician has advised
you regarding appropriate weight reduction goals, nutrition and diet, and exercise.
  • Commit to participation in a physician approved program of suitable physical exercise
    or activity.

The WHY program puts the control in your hands and enhances the choices you
make about food and exercise. The skills you learn during these sessions provide
you with the tools to access your inner resources, and give you the power to make
    the changes that you desire.

We do not diagnose, prescribe, treat, or claim cures for illness or disease. Our

Scientific Studies Show Hypnotherapy Can Boost
                                Weight Reduction

More than a decade of controlled scientific studies and analytical reviews show that
hypnotherapy, in conjunction with proper exercise and nutrition, can enhance weight
reduction and help keep the weight off longer. A review of studies published in
leading medical journals between 1985 and 1998 offers compelling evidence that
hypnotherapy is the added ingredient that helps people stay on track with weight
    control.
    Here’s what the studies found:

    •        Hypnotherapy is effective in weight reduction when used in conjunction with
    behavioral therapy.

    •        Effective hypnotherapy programs generally consist of six to eight or more
sessions of group or individual hypnotherapy.

    •        Study participants who scored highest in hypnotisability had the most significant
    weight reduction results.

    •        In studies comparing a control group to a hypnotherapy group, the group
exposed to hypnotherapy lost more weight and kept the weight off longer.

    •        Hypnotherapy helped people correct faulty thinking and associations around
food and helped them get control over non hunger-related eating.

    •        In a study comparing behavioral therapy to hypnotherapy, both groups of
participants showed the same results at the end of the study. At follow-ups at eight
months and again at two years, however, only the hypnotherapy group continued to
    lose weight.

    •        Hypnotherapy can be administered by a therapist or via hypnosis tapes or self-
hypnosis; all three methods proved effective.

    •        Hypnotherapy helped study participants remember specific weight reduction
    goals and behavioral recommendations.

    •        Unlike most programs, which focus only on diet and exercise, hypnotherapy
might include suggestions for ego strengthening, decision making, stress
management, self-soothing, mental rehearsal, and enhanced motivation, all of which
are helpful in successful weight management.
